Book Corner

For a really heart-warming book on solar energy we recommend The Return of the Solar Cat Book. This book is entertaining, funny, and 100% truthful. The achievements in solar technology come under the scrutiny of cats and while their findings leave some open questions on the level of human intelligence, the human race is assured of "eventual success". If you haven't laughed lately, this book will do it for you.

The Solar Cat Book also has a commentary on the kind of technology employed by Focus Solar. It is said that measuring sunlight by satellites is the most economical way for this task. Yet, cats would still be able to do better because "they are born knowing this kind of thing".

For those who want to know more on effective policies for renewable energy, we recommend the books of Hermann Scheer. Mr. Scheer is the mastermind behind the German feed-in law. He analyzes the challenges of climate change, pollution, and depletion of fossil fuels in a way which goes beyond the usual doom and gloom scenario showing concrete and feasible solutions.

Visual Art Corner

We like the art of Thomas Kretschmer whose art work is focused on painting sunlight. His paintings remind us of the beauty of solar energy. While it's true that one aspect of  solar energy is about kilowatt-hours, it's also true that sunlight is ultimately mysterious. Thomas Kretschmer runs the art gallery Neuwerk where you can contact him if you want to purchase one of his paintings.
